My Book Review...

A Year with JesusDaily Readings and Reflections On Jesus' Own Words

By R.P. Nettelhorst
Published by Thomas Nelson

I have received the book "A year with Jesus: Daily Readings and Reflections on Jesus' Own Words" by R.P. Nettelhorst from the book publishing company booksneeze.com. I have read a couple of the devotionals inside this book, and to be honest, it is not what I expected it to be (the type of devotional I like). What I did not like about it was the book itself was bulky and kinda heavy, it wasn't really quick to read, and the there were too many pages. The book has about 200 pages, but the pages are really large in size. This book is a 365 daily devotional, but the devotionals are really, really long to read, (I think many of them have taken up to one to two minutes just to read!). This is a LONG devotional, so unless you like to read long devotionals, I suggest you should get this book. The book covers a series of topics:  Love and Hate, Truths and Lies, Arrogance and Humility, Friends and Enemies, Belief and Disbelief, Patience and Impatience, Deserved and Undeserved, Good and Evil, Fidelity and Treachery, &  Life and Death. There are about 5-7 devotionals per chapter. (The topics are the chapter.) Yes, I like this book because some of the things it covers are really good, No I don't like this book because it is really bulky, but not too bulky, and the devotionals (for me) take forever to read. I would suggest this book to anyone who is willing to take the time to read the devotionals or for someone who likes really long explanatory devotionals.

Book Review # 2

I have received the book "Daddy Dates: Four Daughters, One Clueless Dad, and His Quest to Win Their Hearts: The Road Map for Any Dad to Raise a Strong and Confident Daughter" by Greg
Wright from the book publishing company booksneeze.com

I really enjoyed reading this. What I liked about reading this book is that Greg Wright introduces each chapter by telling about each of his four daughters. After he introduces his daughter, he will tell about how he learns about his daughter by taking her out on a date. Once on the date, he asks the daughter questions, and has a conversation with her, etc. etc.
This book is for the every dad out there wanting to gain a better relationship with his daughter(s) or to draw closer to his daughter(s). Wright gives tips about what to say and what not to say. This is not like an 'answers' book, well it sort of is, but the author doesn't tell you how to get perfect children in seven simple and quick steps. You know what I mean? I recommend this book to everyone. =)

The Waiting Place Book Review

The book that I have received free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com book review program is "The Waiting Place: Learning to Appreciate Life's Little Delays" by Eileen Button. Before I read this book, I shuffled/flipped through the pages thinking it was going to be short quotes or/and poems. To me, it looked like a chapter book (which it is), but it was something much more then just a regular and normal 'chapter book'. This book is amazing because throughout every chapter you read, it feels like you grow closer to the author (Eileen Button). There are twenty-two chapters in the book alone. In the table of contents, underneath each content title, Button put's a little sentence or even sometimes something that she is waiting for. I really like how this book is presented. After every chapter that you read, the book makes you want to flip each page without
stopping. This book is a MUST READ!! Yes, I would recommend it to everybody. :)

My book Review 5-25-11

I have received the book "Live Loved: Experiencing God's Presence in Everyday Life" by Max Lucado from the book publishing company Booksneeze.com. It is a Devotional. This book is seperated out into six areas of devotion(s) that covers a variety range of topics:
  • Love with a Steadfast Love
  • Love with a Perfect Love
  • Love with a Wise Love
  • Love with a Merciful Love
  • Love to Love Others
This book is really good to read because if you have a problem, you can pray one of the prayers. I thought this was an overall good book in general because like one of Lucado's other devotional/books that I have read, each of the devotionals start with a Bible verse and then ends with a prayer. =) But in the book Live Loved after the prayer, Lucado adds more verses. Most of them are short. :)

I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to learn how to "Live Loved". =)

The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World by Susan Veness

The book that I have received free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com book review program is "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" by Susan Veness. If you want to or would like to travel to Walt Disney World...then this book is for you! The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World takes you on a journey starting from The Magic Kingdom and ending at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The author Susan Veness does a really great job at describing the sights and sounds of each attraction. Each chapter throughout the book is a chapter about one of the four theme parks there. This book is kind a like a tour guide on your journey throughout the park itself. It's starts off telling you about the park's history and then it starts your journey on Main Street USA. I have never been to Walt Disney World, but I would like to go soon. The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World keeps me flipping the pages and wants me to read more. :) Through the chapters, Veness tells you about the theme park that will be introduced in that chapter and a couple of interesting facts. There is a timeline about each of the four parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom). It gives you a couple of details as well. What I did not like about this book is that I thought that there would be a section of pictures. There was not any pictures, but I think Susan Veness did an overally good job on describing the attractions to the best of her ability. :) I would recommend this book to anyone who would like or has been to Walt Disney World. :)

Book Review #2

Hello again...

A Conversation with God for Women
If You Could Ask God Anything What Would It Be?
By Marcia Ford

A Conversation with God for Women by Marcia Ford is a book that I requested and received through the mail from the free publisher Booksneeze.com book review program. This book is about what it would be like to have an actual conversation with God. The book itself answers many of the questions, that you may have for God. There are seven chapters in the book alone. But they are divided into parts that have questions about God, Jesus, The Bible, Life, Prayer, Relationships and Good and Evil. Some of the questions include:

  • God, how can we know that you are listening?
  • Why aren't some prayer's answered?
  • Are all sins the same to You?
  • Jesus, are you really God's son?
And many more questions similar to the ones above.

To be honest, this book was alright, but from a rating from one to ten (ten being the highest and one being the lowest), I would have to give it a 8 and a half. The reason why I would give it a eight and a half would be because #1) it kind of lost my interest because some of the stuff that I was reading, I didn't understand it. and #2) Some of the the words and descriptive things were kind of confusing.

I would recommend this book to a women who was new to the Christian Faith and had several (or many) questions about being a Christian.

book review #1

The book that I have received free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com book review program is "Unto the Hills: A Daily Devotional" by Billy Graham. I received this book from  It is a 365 daily devotional which was originally published about 25 years ago, but this book is an updated edition. Each devotional begins with a Bible Verse (It is sort of like an introduction) that relates to what the devotional is going to be about then it ends with a beautifully written prayer. . Some of the devotionals are long, but they will keep you reading. And some of the devotionals inside this book are short--it depends what the topic is. Billy Graham is really good at writing devotionals. I suggest that anyone who has is a beginner to devotionals, or someone who is just looking for a devotional to read, to read this book, but I suggest this book to everyone! The devotionals will want you to read more and more! It is kind of suspensefulWhat I do not like about this book, the cover can easily tear or rip. But the cover feels nice and soft. :)
"We can find help for all our needs as long as we remember to look up . . . unto the hills but especially unto the Lord."
